The 60 miles long Black Forest Scenic Road („Schwarzwaldhochstraße“) connects Freudenstadt in the southern and Baden-Baden in the northern Black Forest. This highway ist the most scenic route for tourists exploring the area and a real tourist destination.There are overwhelming views along the whole route of Black Forest valleys and the valley of the river Rhine or to the French mountains (“Elsaß”, “Vogesen”). Moreover, there are touristic highlights such as lakes („Mummelsee“), hiking paths („Lotharpfad“) or the recently opened wilderness trail at „Bühlerhöhe".

In winter time skiers get their money’s worth. Because of the high location between 2300 ft. and 3818 ft. snow is nearly guaranteed. Lifts as well as a long renowned cross country skiing trail (“Skifernwanderweg Nordschwarzwald”) offer alternatives for everybody.

Freudenstadt, a lovely Black Forest town, is surrounded by idyllic forests. Situated at a height of 2395 ft. it was founded in 1599 in the style of Late Renaissance. Its market place - the largest in Germany - is surrounded by marvellous arcades, a tip for Black Forest travellers. Enjoy a typical romantic Schwarzwald town!
